If you are going 'hack' your database (and I know you have advised against
it), here are a few essential commands;

show tables;

and

describe <table name>;

This will tell you what you are working with in your database and not some
possibly obsolete documentation...  The date at the bottom indicates it was
last modified on 10 March 2008, at 18:14.  :-)
