I tend to agree, in the context of MythTV.

I would also say though, that for the spec that you get and the
aesthetics/acoustics, it's not a bad deal. It's harder to build the
equivalent than people think.

Of course you have to remember that with the Apple mini you are also
paying for proprietary software.
