Hi Owen,

Try when you try the backend setup, make sure the mythtv frontend is
shutdown.  In the mythtv setup terminal window that opens when backend setup
is run, again check the first 15 or so lines, might have details on why the
connection to the database is failing.

Otherwise maybe is it a corrupt install of myth/ubuntu.  Just noticed that
you are using 64bit, so not sure if this may be the cause of the issues, I
was using mythbuntu 10.04 32bit and a HVR4000.
