Try using build-dep

apt-get build-dep libavcodec-dev -y
apt-get install build-essential -y
apt-get build-dep mythtv mythplugins -y

            --enable-glx-procaddrarb \
            --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaac --enable-libmp3lame \
            --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-libfftw3" fakeroot
debian/rules binary


I've built deb's in the past this way, but I have built my own not since
about aug/sep 2008..
