Another person reported this error to me using an S420 card with Ubuntu 9.10. 
Interesting thing is I'm using one here with 9.10 with no troubles at all - 
just put it in and booted up.

After I offered to test the card for them I didn't hear back so I'm not sure 
if they fixed the issue or not. I'll look at my archives and see what I can 
find.
