Right, interesting. I wasn't really in the wiring headspace when I was  
doing the renovations and the pressure was on so I plugged for a high  
spec cable so I could get the walls lined out.

Even if I end up with cat5e speeds there's always the option of  
redoing the jacks at some point in the future if the need's there and  
the diagnostics tools cheaper/more available.

So diy cat6 installs are generally pretty error prone? What sort of  
gear do you need to verify transfer speeds?
