I don't know if they are all like that.
But as mentioned, the GT430 is much smaller than my two GT220.
The GT220 with the fan and heatsink takes completely two PCIe slots.
The GT430 is much slimmer but not quite enough that it would fit in
one PCIe slot only. I'm actually thinking that they could as the only
thing preventing it to fit is the weird shape Asus gave to the
heatsink to make it look *cool*. It's kind of a wave shape, should
they had made it flat it would have fitted in one slot only.
I can not hear the fan in my GT430, because it's less loud than the
hard drive or the power supply next to it (and the power supply I
bought is supposed to be one of the quietest).
Now my card is new, this will change over time as it starts collecting dust.
