I have considered big PC displays but these (typically) do not do 50 Hz
modes. This is a show stopper for me.

The Pany Prof plasma display range do not support 50Hz & too expensive &
are not Pioneer inspired.
The Panasonic consumer V20 does/okay/is.

I have not found any PC displays that will sync 50Hz modes.

Most important, is the behaviour of the clocking/refresh rates of the
internal prescaler with changing input video modes & this not so easy to
determine from any datasheet.
