Can the AV control cables (e.g. Sony Control A1 II / S-link) be
integrated into mythtv, I've yet to see how?

I think that works over the HDMI cable using "CEC" version 5 technology
(aka HDAVI control 5) that has yet to make its way into the NVIDIA
cards. It works well, e.g. a Sony CAM connected via HDMI is controlled
by the TV's remote. Nice. Shame its not more extensibe. My AV amps
are older than the newer HDMI ones, I suppose I could upgrade them ($$)
but that still would not integrate mythtv.

Complete electrical disconnection seems the better goal, but with some
really low current device running to turn everything back on.

Thank you.

Yes it didn't take long to work out that the best viewing came from the
(home) "dynamic" setting, which is the only setting that realistically
stands besides the best bright LCD's in the current competitive
marketplace.
Great deals currently available on this TV with Blu ray players thrown
in. Some other comments - they do not take 1080p via component but do
over HDMI, most peers of a similar standard do both. Their website also
says the TH-P42V20Z Power Consumption (Normal Use) is 139 W and Power
Consumption (Standby) 0.4 W (Great if that is what it is?) however the
back of the unit says 1.8A, which is ~423W, presumably peak power
drawer. What is normal use? The most cut down dullest mode showing all
blacks with no sound?
