Yeah the usual culprit is overscan or not setting the best resolution  
for analogue.

So for anyone still using Composite or SVIdeo are you using a native  
PAL resolution or using 800x600 or 1024x768

For myPVR we went with 720x576 flagged as 4:3 which generally provided  
the best picture quality for naive pal broadcasts.
