I too have a Nova-T 500 and anything less than 60% results in visual
corruption. However, I think it is also important to look at the error count
in the signal. I use dvbtune when fluffing around with signal issues. A-la:
$ dvbtune -f 570000 -I 0 -qam 64 -gi 16 -cr 3_4 -bw 8 -tm 8 -m 1
Using DVB card "DiBcom 3000MC/P"
tuning DVB-T (in United Kingdom) to 570000000 Hz

Event: Frequency: 570000000
SymbolRate: 0
FEC_inner: 3
Bit error rate: 0
Signal strength: 45804

FE_HAS_SYNC
Signal=45802, Verror=0, SNR=0dB, BlockErrors=34, (S|L|C|V|SY|)
Signal=45799, Verror=0, SNR=0dB, BlockErrors=34, (S|L|C|V|SY|)
Signal=45809, Verror=0, SNR=0dB, BlockErrors=0, (S|L|C|V|SY|)
Signal=45820, Verror=0, SNR=0dB, BlockErrors=0, (S|L|C|V|SY|)
The -f option depends on where you are obviously. The others are a
copy-paste special from this list.
