Hi

> I tried playing an HD clip from TV1 in mplayer - its a clip from the tennis this morning that was full of blockiness - and it played fine. The audio quickly got out of sync, but the video was much better and didn't show any blockiness. I've got JYA's mplayer as well - how do I ensure its using VDPAU?

Either specify it on the command line
or in ~/.mplayer/config have something like:
# Default to VDPAU output and codecs
vo=vdpau,xv,
vc=ffh264vdpau,ffmpeg12vdpau,ffwmv3vdpau,ffvc1vdpau,

The trailing comma is important as it tells mplayer to continue
searching for a decoder if the one specified do not work.

On my machine, mplayer with vdpau doesn't like the file posted
earlier.. it takes a while to start with hundred of errors.

I do see a bit of "blockiness" when Kim Clijsters walks up the net,
it's quite faint. Is that what you're referring to ?

VDPAU only supports h264 level up to 4.1... if using a more advanced
level, it may not work...
