Yes you must enable LNA, or at least I had to enable LNA or else the card would not find the TVNZ mux. You could try without but I don't see the point, it is a one line add to the modprobe.d/options file.
I have to say if I had my time with Myth all over again, I wouldn't yet bother with Terrestrial Freeview. Don't get me wrong, it looks fantastic and now that I have it I won't go back. However, I reckon a setup with 2 Sat Freeview tuners would give an excellent result with much lower cost and many more options for frontends.
Good luck with it.

Thanks. I've ordered a Nova T from computer lounge without the remote, and will try it tonight. I'm eager to give this a go since its working so well. Need a new challenge :)
I've read about enabling LNA, however all the information posted is in much older threads. Running Ubuntu 8.10, is this still necessary? Or do I just fit the card, configure the backend, then I am away laughing?
And finally, I read your previous thread describing the problems you had, but didn't see the solution. If I have problems, I will go looking.
Cheers
Aaron

I have a system with Nova-T 500 that I consider is working well enough to unleash on the family, but I have not as yet done so. I haven't done so because I just haven't quite got all the correct connections on my AV gear and I want to get some universal remotes so that we have a consistent experience across the front ends.
You just need JYA's repositories, JYA has incorporated Paul Rendall's work as far as I know, (could have sworn it was Paul Kendall though).
Then again if you have enough CPU grunt you don't need JYA's but would then need Paul's..
I did have an issue with pixelation on TV1 and TV2, and only solved it by not using VDPAU on 720p or lower resolution, (see previous emails).

After getting my system working perfectly with a Nova-S Plus and VDPAU, I would like to expand my setup with a Nova-T 500 to get Freeview HD and have multiple tuners.
I've read the most recent article in Mythtvnz, where it summarises that it mostly works, but is not quite ready for prime time yet. I'm wondering, is this a case of YMMV? My system has plenty of CPU grunt, and I'm also using JYA's VDPAU backport on an nVidia 8500GT very successfully. Does anyone actually use a Nova-T 500 full time for watching Live TV? Is it possible yet, or still just for playing with? This is a system that my wife and kids use probably more than I do.
Also, I'm a little confused about what I need in my frontend to playback Freeview HD. If I understand correctly, I would need a specific audio codec to get sound. Is this supported in JYA's frontend? Or do I need to use Paul Rendall's repository? And if I use that, do I then lose VDPAU?
Many thanks
Aaron
