[mythtvnz] VDPAU package can be removed?

I turned off GPU Scaling in the nVidia xserver settings. This got rid of the 50 51 52 Hz refresh rates, however now the only refresh rates that show up are 60Hz. How can I figure out what the available refrsh rates and timings are, so I can put the correct timings in xorg.conf?
 
You talk about the nvidia-settings program - is this a command line util that returns the timings from the EDID? Is there some other way of getting the timings from the EDID of my tv?

That's nVidia "DynamicTwinView"...

The refresh rate showns in xrandr (or mythtv) isn't what the actual rate is.

nVidia did this so they can assign a unique refresh rate to any screen
connected.
Say you were using TwinView on a 800x600 screen @ 50Hz and a 1920x1200
screen @ 60Hz, you wouldn't be able to identify which screen is what.

By default, it is stuck at 60Hz, no matter which refresh rate you select.
This is due to the GPU scaling. De-activate GPU scaling in the
nvidia-settings or in xorg.conf in the Scree section add:
Option         "FlatPanelProperties" "Scaling = Centered"

It's just the way the nvidia driver works, it's explained in the
manual why you get a 50,51,52 Hz refresh rate etc...

Not being able to change the refresh rate has got me puzzled for a
long time and one day out of the blue a nvidia engineer posted on
their forum that it was related to GPU scaling...

With you TV, (I also have a Sony) you may want to follow the
instructions I posted there:

It gives you fine tuning for your TV, giving you access to:
50,60,24,23.976, 59.94Hz refresh rates

And how to change the refresh rate in MythTV so it automatically match
the framerate of the video being played:
