There are a lot of explanations on why this happe. The wiki entry in
wikipedia which was recently updated include most of them.

I had that on my machine, after checking: extra audio buffering in the
TV -> playback settings
and making sure "Aggressive sound card buffering" is not checked in
Setup -> General -> Audio
