What kernel are you running?  The HVR4000 I have has only gotten 
mainstream support in 2.6.28, before that I had to download and patch in 
dvb drivers from linuxtv.  Both frontends of this card are recognized by 
mythtv-setup
What does your /dev/dvb/adapter"n"/ tree look like.
Also list dmesg output
