[mythtvnz] Problems connecting to database

I use Mythbuntu, and ditto on not previously not having to make any manual
settings changes. I am pretty sure something went wrong with the reconfigure
script after the upgrade install.

yes but different distros set things up differently too. I don't
recall having to do anything special to mythbuntu to allow remote FEs
to connect.
However you should ALWAYS remember to NEVER connect your combined
FE/BE via 127.0.0.1 as it will backfire the moment you want to connect
a remote FE.
