Hello,
I have just upgraded my HTPC to one based on the AMD 780G chipset. This
chipset includes an HDMI out through a Radeon HD 3200. When I plug in
through that, the video works as expected, but the sound still uses the
speaker-out and so I get nothing on my TV (if you use HDMI for video on
the TV, you have to use the HDMI for the sound for that channel).
I have tried tweaking the settings in alsamixer and tried changing the
settings in MythTV on the Utilities/Setup > Setup > General > Audio
page, but I don't really know what I am doing and nothing seems to work.
The card also has an S/PDIF out, which may complicate matters.
I understand that the aim is to have all 5.1 sound go to the TV as-is,
and all other audio types sent to the TV as PCM.
I am using the Free Radeon drivers and would prefer to continue doing so
unless there is a good reason to change to the non-Free ones.
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,
Aaron
