Thanks, that provided enlightenment. Turns out the configuration step in
myth-setup had failed so I configured manually using the --configure
option.

Is there any way to cache the downloaded program data, rather than
re-downloading it each time, even if it hasn't changed? I noticed the
--cache option in the help, but how do I use that with myth?

I just rescanned my channels and got pretty good signal on a few of the
channels (99% on some of them), but still it did not register any
channels.
