Almost all LCD TVs now on sale have FreeviewHD tuners, and the Sony
V5500 models all do. So they can play what comes off the air. But
the transport stream format that MythTV uses to store that data is
something they do not support, unfortunately.

You need to add LATM AAC support to Vista, so I would think it would
also work for Windows 7. Get the MONOGRAM AAC Decoder:
http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/directshow-filters/
and put the mmaacd.ax file somewhere (I have a \exe directory on my
PATH that I use for small things like that). Then from the command
line in that directory do this:
regsrv32 mmaacd.ax
That allows some programs, such as GBPVR and MediaPortal, to play LATM
AAC. Or just use VLC:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc
I think VLC has LATM AAC support builtin.
