[mythtvnz] No sound with Freeview HD

I'm sure this has been asked before, but couldn't seem to find answers
anywhere. What is required to get sound working for live/recorded tv in
MythTv (I'm using Mythbuntu 9.04b).

I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-1700 and can tune/record/watch fine but no sound.
If I play recordings back with VLC everything is fine, just not in MythTv
directly. Sound for all other media types works in MythTv, so I'm thinking
its a decoder issue?
