I've already gone down the path of writing an .fdi file for HAL to
declare the keymap when the USB dongle is plugged in.

And lshal shows it adds it to what looks like the right place, but no
worky.

The keynums I'm using were from showkey, so I think I have the right
numbers (and they're not raw codes from atkbd)..

(I note flatmate is increasingly frowny whenever I say I'm 'upgrading'
things.. :) )
