Just thought I'd give an update on this.

In the end I bought the LG 42" above - model 42LG53FR.
3xHDMI
PC Input
2 component input
1 x svideo input
2 RCA inputs

Overall I'm very happy with it so far as a good middle of the range
screen in terms of quality & features.

Harvey Norman are selling it for $1987 but I got it for $1699 as you'll
see below.

For not the first time I had a bad sales experience with Havery Norman
Christchurch electrical staff. Ther were some very misleading &
deceptive sales claims which I found were bogus when I got home and
looked up the TV specs online and reviewed their catalogue.

There was also some outright deceptive pricing on the invoice. For
example the belkin 4-way surge protector board I purchased. Normally
$99.95, they gave me a nice $19.95 discount on it as an addon making it
$80. All well and good until I checked their catalogue again and found
the price is actually $77. Hmmm.

I got right on their case about it and made them replace the TV with the
LG and give it to me for $1699 and free delivery (previously $60) based
on the same price from a competitor's printed catalogue (LV Martin in
Wellington).

So I recommend checking everything very carefully if you're considering
buying anything from Harvey Norman Christchurch. There are some good
deals at the moment, but check the facts and read the fine print.
