Consumer says that the Sony and Panasonic brands are the most reliable
for LCD and plasma TVs. Everything else is mid-range reliability,
except Philips which is worst.

If you want something that will connect well to a MythTV box, you need
to know that the TV puts out good EDID data that matches its screen
size. My Panasonic TX-32LX70A does not have any EDID data matching
its actual screen size of 1366x768, and Nvidia drivers do not allow
you to override the EDID data.

I would not believe the manufacturers figures very much. The best
idea would be to get hold of some good HD video, put it on your
HDMI/DVI-D capable laptop and take that into the shop and get to play
your own video to test the TV.
