[mythtvnz] Xorg and lcd tv's

I have noticed this but still don't understand it fully.  I have the
Sony Bravia KLV32V300A and clearly have some detection issues, although
I have reasonable settings for TV, desktop fonts are being botched up.
Where does one find resources for debugging this stuff?
