Hmmm I'm not sure I have this problem.

I have the choppy problem with the Freeview version (the only one I have 
digital access to).
The Sky ones work fine, but then again they are coming in via the sky 
STB and into the PVR-500.  So by the time they get to the amp over the 
SPDIF, they have been changed from A->D a few times.
