I don't think there's anything wrong with tv_grab_dvb. Also, just to clarify,
I didn't write the original script, that was djc. I took it up as I like
Python and I could see an easy way of making it do what I want.
The main reasons I took it up;
- I wanted an easy way to override the poor category data.
- I wanted to be able to process/augment the data.
- tv_grab_dvb seemed a bit abandoned (although not so much now) and I
don't know C that well.
- A reason to look at another part of the MythTV code.
- To get a better experience with out MythTV installation.
- Fun.
It now has the ability to do a bunch of post processing;
- Strip HTML from the title/description.
- Get category data from a list.
- Override category data by title from a sqlite database.
- Find episode titles in the program description.
- Find movies and their genres from the program title.
- Output rating information.
- Get the year of a movie from the program description.
- Get the credits (actors) from the program description.
- Get extra details from the IMDB.
It should also be easy to write other processors that people want to use such
as augmenting the TV1 BBC World data from the Sky data.
All in all I guess I just like playing with things like this even though I
should probably spend more time doing actual work :)
