TVNZ Digital FTA Test Channels Resume – on Optus D1, H Pol

The test channels on TVNZ’s free-to-air digital DTH platform have been
restored.

They have been transferred from Optus B1 to D1 and with their polarity
changed from Vertical to Horizontal.

As a result, all Set Top Boxes will now need to be retuned to “Horizontal”
and then re- scanned.

The essential changes made in the last 24 hours were part of preparations
for the launch in April of the DTH service of New Zealand’s permanent
free-to-air digital TV, Freeview. (Its DTT services will follow).

Note : The channels restored today include the pass-through test channels
Deutsche Welle, Bloomberg and CCTV9. TVNZ has said all along that while
they played a part in testing and proving digital equipment and processes,
they may not be part of Freeview when it’s launched.
