Yes and no.
Mythtv records to a format called NUV or nupplevideo. If you have a
hardware mpeg card like a Hauppauge PVR then its a mpeg with a wrapper.
You can play these files directly with your favourite media player, but
the cutlist isn't available outside of mythtv. Windows Media Player
requires a codec downloaded.
To create divx/xvid then you need to run a program named nuvexport
This would export all recordings that have "coronation" in the title to a
xvid file.
nuvexport --title coronation --mode xvid --transcode --noise_reduction
--despeckle --deinterlace
If you just run nuvexport it will prompt you for all of these values.
