[mythtvnz] 0.19 LiveTV under Gentoo

I've just built up a FE/BE using a PVR-500MCE under Gentoo and all
went well apart from when I go into 'Watch TV'. Everything goes black
and I get the following errors in the console...

etc... until it times out and returns to the main menu. I also get;

Starting up as the master server.
Error getting codec params
IVTV_IOC_G_CODEC:: Invalid argument

in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log.

Im running:
Kernel: 2.6.18-gentoo-r3
IVTV: ivtv-0.8.0

Im trying to save all recording onto a XFS partition mounted at
/media. Permissions are set as

drwxrwxrwx 2 mythtv users 59 Nov 25 22:09 video

Any help in solving this and making this into a fully functioning unit
would be greatfully appreciated :)
