I thought that I had an option until I saw your lovely Rimu wall which you 
probably do not want to butcher.

Behind my wall mounted screen I have a flush box (with no plate) so the cables 
can come through the wall and flush box into the back of the screen without 
being seen. No problem with gib board - if you ever want to patch it up there 
is no problem.
