TVNZ Digital Satellite Outage Only Temporary

TVNZ engineers expect to restore test transmissions on the company's
digital satellite platform sometime later today. The experimental
channels will resume on satellite Optus B1, at the usual frequency.

The channels disappeared yesterday afternoon after a fault in the
satellite tracking system at the Avalon TV Centre and technicians have
been working ever since to diagnose and fix the problem.

Some TVNZ channels and the Maori Television Service on Sky Digital were
interrupted for a short time yesterday.  But other channels,
particularly in the South of the North Island and in the South Island,
are still affected by the fault and won't resume until later today
