I have *not* used TTGO yet but they look quite nice

I've a good experience with Pycom boards but they aren't cheapest
https://pycom.io/product/lopy4/

I've also used Adafruit LoRa boards

I'd be keen to try one of TTN gateways
https://nicegear.nz/product/the-things-indoor-lorawan-wifi-gateway-8-channel-lora-900-mhz

My 868 gateway write up is here and I got the lora mcard from digikey
https://kuziel.nz/notes/2016/08/lora-gateway-mk1-raspberrypi-multitech-lora-mcard.html

I am going "offline" in a few weeks time for a few weeks time, but I'm keen
to help out with TTN gateways setup when I get back. April ish.

Hope this helps,

Marek
