[Templates] Hints for debugging templates anyone?

I'm having trouble tracking down a file error so I was wondering if there
was a way to get more information out of Template-Toolkit (TT2b3), e.g. line
number/template file where error is thrown. I've tried wrapping likley bits
of my templates in try-catch blocks but this particular file exception never
gets caught!

I'm not much of perl hacker and so I have been using the ttree and tpage
wrappers. If the answer to my question is to use perl debug, I'd appreciate
knowing how to set up a simple perl script that takes allows me to manually
set the ttree configuration flags [source directory, output directory,
pre_process, post_process] and then allow me to trace the template
processing and maybe track down the error that way.

Cheers
