I have a Hauppage Nova TD-500 which a lot of folks have had trouble with, but mine has never skipped a beat. Dual tuners is definitely a bonus. They're no longer sold new but they pop up on Trademe from time to time (there's one on there for $70 at the moment). PCI slots are getting few and far between on modern hardware so stuff like this should become increasingly more available.
The Hauppauge HVR-2200 should be detected 'out of the box' on most
modern linux distros. You may need to download and install firmware,
which is pretty straightforward. The HVR-2210 series also work, but
the one I have is listed as "unknown type" by the current kernel (3.7)
- still works, with the firmware, though. These are dual tuner cards,
which means you can record two different DVB-T muxes at the same time.

I'm not aware of other brands that are readily available in NZ.

Good luck!
Personally I use the HVR-2200, but both the HVR-2200 and HVR-2210 are PCI-E, not PCI.
