My current TV does do a better job than the mythtv box (9400GT) with
DVD playback.<br>
But the TV upscaling is limited to certain input formats (s-video)
& I would like to ditch the DVD player.<br>

I'm sure the "right" PC videocard is capable of outperforming the
stand-alone DVD player.<br>

Forgot to answer that one.
I'm a tad dubious with upscaler. Not sure if this will make a visible
difference..
I've always seen those fancy DVD player with "1080P" playback as a
marketing ploy to make people feel like they need to buy a new DVD
player.
I can't see why a TV wouldn't do as much of a good job as the DVD player..
