backport, and still got the tearing. He mentions in his FAQ that tearing with
composite enabled is the norm, so I added the Option “Composite” “Disabled”
into my xorg.conf and voila – tearing was gone. What puzzled me however,
is that even when I disable VDPAU in the playback profile (because I get micro
pauses on playback), the tearing is still gone.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

I feel I should say that when I upgraded to jaunty my tv viewing became
delicious, instead of tearing all over the place. I’m not sure if this
was due to the kernel upgrade, or the compiz upgrade though.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
