<br>hardware.conf.old is the first version of lirc which followed the udev info from the Parker site above and it was working fine, but after a kernel update it stopped working and I had to use hardware.conf.new where I used the information from Parkers site to specify the card directly and I used the LIRCD_ARGS to pass the conf file through to the daemon.<br>
