I like the look of the way they do upgrades (packages rather than an
appliance mentality).
Also the ability to add other packages easily. If you have ever typed
apt-get in knoppmyth then you will know what I mean, fragged my setup a
couple of times trying to upgrade packages or install new versions of
stuff on the backend.
The GUI management tools in mythbuntu are a nice to have but indicate
to me that the developers have done it right from the start.
Also the ability to specify a frontend only install is useful.
Knoppmyth is kludgy on the install side of things and I don't feel safe
playing with the OS, it always feels like it could break.

I'm of two minds at the moment, my knoppmyth install is working fine
but is now two revisions behind and I also have some hardware changes I
want to make including repartitioning a disk.
Wondering if I should battle on with good old Knoppmyth or take a leap
to what looks like a very nice platform.

I think I'll go halfway and install it on an old disk in a frontend
first to see what its like, try it for a few weeks and then if its ok,
make the leap.

Hi
I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has recently changed from
knoppmyth to mythbuntu.
How did it to?
Any comparisons?
Fewer Problems and more reliable or just the same?
Worth the effort?
I've been running knoppmyth for nearly 3 years now and it has served me
well, but I like the look of what is going on with Mythbuntu at the moment.

Interested to hear what you think the difference is going to be in
terms of "whats going on"? I have thought about the same change but
have not taken any leaps. knoppmyth is working pretty well. Not sure I
need a myth control centre. Not sure what else is likely to be
different.
