I wasn’t aware of that.  Doing some googling, it seems you’ll need to have a particular version of tvOS installed on it.  If you are buying a new one tomorrow, you’ll probably be out of luck since it comes with tvOS 11, not 10.1 or earlier.

I’ve never heard of anyone creating MythTV anything for tvOS, there isn’t even an official frontend for iOS. Closest thing was Torc for iOS.
