What format of channels.conf?  I have one I just did in VDR format. Or
you can generate one yourself from your DVB-S card.  Here is the
script I use to make mine (freeview-satellite-scan.sh):

If you want the resulting file to be read by other programs, you will
need to comment out the echo line.  I am using a modified version of
scan-s2 that handles card numbers higher than 3, but if you change
that line to use scan, it should work with those parameters.
