Something interesting I found out when we got out Samsung 7000 series.

Some picture settings are disabled on different inputs, e.g. you can't 
turn off the silly auto backlight dimming and other picture processing 
on HDMI inputs.

However, if you rename the HDMI input to "DVI PC" or something else OC 
related the TV will then treat it differently and let you adjust 
different settings.

Being a different brand this may not have any relevance to your issue 
but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
