Then put the database on / and use the 10k drive for something else.
All you need to do is keep the recordings separate to the database, it
doesn't matter if the database is on /

mythbuntu runs a database backup every week out of /etc/cron.weekly/.
My preference is to move that to /etc/cron.daily/ and change the
sttings to keep 21 days backups (the default is about 4 and if you
don't notice a db problem for a few days, you can run out of backups.
