You could try enabling the Magic Sysreq, next time you reboot it.
Even if the keyboard appears dead, it usually still works.

Once enabled, to see wha's going on I would use
Alt+SysRq+r
Alt+SysRq+k
Alt+SysRq+g
Alt+SysRq+t

Then to shutdown
Alt+SysRq+s
Alt+SysRq+u
Alt+SysRq+b
