Without wanting to comment on the merits of any claims made by Sky or
other parties...

Only Freeview uses MHEG-5. Sky uses EIT for almost everything, tho
no-one seems certain about exactly what data the Series Link stuff is
using.

I suspect the reason why Sky hasn't switched to encrypted private
streams (either EIT-like or MHEG-5) for listings data is the lack of
hardware to decode more than a couple of NDS-encrypted streams in the
vast majority of boxes out there.

And any alternative is also going to be more expensive to engineer than
sending letters from time to time.
