I've done 10 simultaneous recordings on my two SkyStar 2 DVB-S cards before
for a stress test. No problems whatsoever. CPU usage was fairly low if I
recall correctly.

Another thread hijack: I'm working on getting a DM1105 DVB-S card running.
They are the cards that are advertised on trademe for $69. There's support
for DM1105 in Jaunty but I need to add the PCI IDs for this card. I'll post
again once I have this working.

Once that card is in the backend, I'll run a stress test again with 15
channels if the transponder split works out right (ie: 10 on TVNZ and 5 on
Canwest/Mediaworks). I suppose including the radio channels isn't much of a
test with their low bitrates.

We could just modify the backend code to support, say, 10 virtual tuners
per device. To anyone who has a good understanding of mythtv's source,
would that be hard?

Sam.
