[mythtvnz] VDPAU package can be removed?

Well that provided some results. In the Xrandr GUI, with dynamic twin view still off, I changed the resolution from 1360x768 to 1280x720, and suddenly I had 50Hz and 60Hz both available as refresh rates!

I changed to 1280x720 at 50Hz and the whole TV video changed. Previously, even though I connect from DVI on computer to HDMI on TV, somehow my TV still detected that I was connected from a PC (TV tools menu showed PC Input). Now the TV shows HDMI 720p input, I get overscan on the picture (no overscan previously) and the colours became a lot more saturated. Watching live TV, the picture looks great - smooth and full screen. In the GUI and desktop, part of the display is off the screen.

I'll continue to play with this - hopefully I can get the best of both worlds and have native 1360x768 and 50 Hz with no overscan all at the same time.

Aaron

There was a discussion not long ago on the MythTV distribution list.
When using the native resolution of 1360x768, the only refresh rate
available was 60Hz.
However, when using 1280x720, other refresh rates were available.

But that you got 50,51,52 etc before, means that you changed something
; and this isn't related to the GPU scaling.

Hopefully you have kept a backup of the xorg.conf and you can restart from there
