I'm having the same problem with my nova-t-500 card too. Doesn't help
that the first two Google results for this problem is this thread :o

Can someone who has both nova-t-500 tuners working, let me know:
1) In the video sources section, do you have one video source or two?
2) Did you do a channel scan for each capture card in the first 'input
connections' screen
2) What are the values for the input group 1 and input group 2 for
each of your cards?

I expect that I should be able to watch one channel while recording
another. At the moment, if there is an recording running, I cannot
watch a different channel at the same time.
