[mythtvnz] Getting remote to work on Ubuntu 8.10 - Hauppauge Nova-T-500

Hi all,

I have a mythTv box running on Ubuntu 8.10 with a dual tuner Hauppauge
Nova-T-500 card.  Out of the box the remote doesn't work.  I've used
the MCC to configure it and the direction buttons, number buttons and
volume buttons work.  Does anyone else have a similar setup and can
recommend the easiest and most future-proof solution?  In the past
with other setups I've followed the howto on Gary Parkers website but
it seems like it is out-dated now.
