[mythtvnz] Aleutia H1

I just thought I would alert everybody to my experiences with Aleutia
(should perhaps post to the Mythtv User list as well).

Not that I want to bag a brand/supplier supporting the HTPC area but I
think customers are at least entitled to receive what they have paid for.

Upon seeing the listing for the H1 I took the chance and rder one in late
May. Aleutia then notified me that the board from Zotac were delayed until
late June. Fair enough and I waited for the revised delivery. Michael
Rosenberg from Aleutia was responsive enough to my updates and apologetic
about the delay. They updated their webiste to say shipments would be
delayed which appeared to suggest that they were taking this sensibly and
being responsible/reasonable advising customers.

Waited and then when the June deadline I emailed. Delivery was then
delayed until 6 July. Waited a couple of weeks for the promised DHL/UPS
shipment and still no show.

Emailed Michael again and he confirmed it had shipped and would supply the
UPS tracking number I had asked for. Again nothing showed up via UPS or the
promised email with the tracking number so I could check if something was in
transit (we live on a street name of which there are 3 with the same name in
Wellington, so the couriers/postal service can mis deliver so contacting UPS
seemed the reasonable thing to do).

Again a couple more emails to Michael saying that given the length of time
and the lack of reponse/tracking number I had no alternative to dispute the
transaction. Still no repsonse to date.

Logged a dispute with BNZ and they are investigating. It was paid via
Paypal and as it is over 45 days can't dispute with them (usual shitty
service with Payal .. still wonder why I give them my business).

So long story short ... looks to be an interesting product. I accept that
things happen and delays can occur, and the communications looked good from
Aleutia. The follow through and lack of resolution is abysmal! I'd steer
clear, but interested in anybody elses experience with Aleutia? I'm not sure
if mine is an isolated case with a crappy service standard or Aleutia have
some sort of financial problems and are indulging in fraud in their final
days.

  Hamish
